Open Days and events

Open Days and events give prospective applicants and their teachers the chance to visit the Department. The summer open days are timed to coincide with open days at many of the other science departments and several of the colleges.

Quite apart from giving you a direct idea of what studying Computer Science at Oxford would be like, coming to an open day means that the place is not completely unfamiliar if you later come back for an interview, and you will very likely have met at least one of the tutors who will be carrying out the interviews.

Teacher and prospective students can sign up to receive email updates about our open days, and other events and activities for school-age pupils and prospective students.

More information about the University, Colleges and the Department

More information about the University and the courses it offers, about Computer Science at Oxford, and about Oxford colleges, can also be found on these web pages:

  • The University admissions site, including the undergraduate prospectus. There is also an excellent summary of the interview process, based on a booklet we send to all applicants. You can request a paper copy of the prospectus by sending e-mail to undergraduate.admissions@admin.ox.ac.uk. Of take a look at the University's admissions video on YouTube.
  • Mike Nicholson, Oxford's Director of Undergraduate Admissions, chats with students and staff from around the University in a series of Podcasts about Colleges, what to put on the application form and how best to prepare for an Oxford interview. They aren't Computer Science specific, but are filled with lots useful information about applying to Oxford.
  • The Department of Computer Science's main web site. Here you can find information about the research work of the Department, and about the other courses at postgraduate level that we offer.
  • The Mathematical Institute has a web site with more information about the topics in our degree courses that are shared with Mathematics. The site includes supporting materials aimed at entrants with only one Mathematics A level.
  • Each college has a website where you can find out about the College's open days, and request a copy of the College prospectus. Links to these sites appear on the University site.
  • We are always happy to send out copies of our Computer Science at Oxford printed brochure about studying here at undergraduate level, or you can download a copy.
