Local information

The next meeting of WG2.1 will take place from 15th to 19th January 2001, in Cochabamba, Bolivia. The local organizer is Pablo Azero. In this page you will find some useful information about the event. If you have any question not addressed here please let us know. Additionally refer to this page for some preparation details before traveling.

Getting there

Tickets are usually cheaper in Europe. You will normally take the plane first to La Paz or Santa Cruz and then take a local airline (LAB or Aerosur) to go to Cochabamba. As an option you can consider that instead of flying directly from Europe to South America, you first go to Miami and then fly to Bolivia. Anyway you have to stop in a (south) american country before landing in Bolivia. You seldom have convenient offers in the routes Miami-Europe and Miami-Bolivia, so you have good chances to get a cheaper ticket.

You will normally get Cochabamba by airplane, from La Paz or Santa Cruz and there will be somebody at the airport waiting for you. Please announce the details of your trip to the local organizer . Just in case nobody is at the airport you can take a taxi (cost around $US 3) or bus (cost around $US 0.25). Please take a taxi when you arrive if none of us (the local organizers) is around.

The conference location is Hotel Aranjuez.

Costs

Costs for the meeting: $US 70 per person, includes costs for conference location, internet connection at the conference, excursion, and the official dinner. Additionally around $US 30 for 5 days lunch in the conference location. There are some nice restaurants near the conference location for lunch at a better price.

Hotel: there are two hotels next to the conference location. The prices per night are:

Hotel Aranjuez (conference location)
Single $US 59 Double $US 69 Triple $US 84 (breakfast included)

Hotel Anteus (about 200m from conference location)
Single $US 25 Double $US 30 (no breakfast)

There are more hotels around, if anyone is interested we could provide more details. We need to know your preferences as soon as possible so that we can reserve in advance a block of rooms.

Other costs (dinner, transport if necessary, internet at the hotel, ...): around $US 10 per day.

Satellite event

This item will have a separate web page in the future. In the mean time we provide some initial information. This event aims at reaching a broader audience with some state-of-the-art topics.
