OXFORD UNIVERSITY COMPUTING LABORATORY

Buildings

The Laboratory is housed in the Wolfson Building, Parks Road. Some of the practical facilities for undergraduate and postgraduate courses are located in the Thom Building.

Wolfson Building

The Wolfson Building includes a large extension built in 1992/93, which was formally opened on 28 April 1994 by Sir Iain Vallance, Chairman of BT. The new building was funded largely through the generosity of the Wolfson Foundation, with support from industrial collaborators such as BT, IBM (UK), Fujitsu, Rolls-Royce, Sharp Laboratories, and Sun Microsystems, together with funds from the University.

The Laboratory has a 120-seat lecture theatre, a smaller seminar room and a social/display area on the lower ground floor, all of which are accessible to the public and can be hired for conferences and meetings. Internally there are a common room and further conference and seminar rooms, one of which has been given the name of the Fox Room.

Thom Building

Some of the Computing Laboratory's facilities are located within the Thom Building of the Department of Engineering Science. These include two-thirds of a 50 workstation teaching laboratory (shared with the Department of Engineering Science) and four other workstation laboratories for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

For further information on the accommodation available, please contact the Departmental Administrator.
