Core Courses

There are four core courses:

• A1: Mathematical Methods (28 lectures in MT, Dr M Porter, Prof S D Howison and Dr H Ockendon)
• A2: Applied Partial Differential Equations (16 lectures in HT, Dr J Norbury and 8 supplementary lectures in HT, Dr M Porter)
• B1: Numerical Linear Algebra and Numerical Solution of Differential Equations (8 lectures in MT, Dr A J Wathen and 16 lectures in MT, Prof. E Süli)
• B2: Further Numerical Linear Algebra and Finite Element Methods for Partial Differential Equations (8 lectures in MT, Dr A J Wathen and 16 lectures in HT, Dr A J Wathen)

The core courses consist of both lectures and examples classes, and students must attend both. Some preparatory reading relating to the core courses is suggested. Past exam papers can be found on the OXAM website and the Mathematical Institute website.
