interests

I am a post-doctoral researcher in the Computational Biology Group in the Computing Laboratory, and a member of the Oxford New Frontiers in the Mathematics of Solids (OXMOS) programme. My main research interests are the use of nonlinear elasticity theory and the finite element method to model soft tissue mechanics accurately and efficiently, and the development of powerful, general, extendable and heavily tested code for computational biology simulations, using good software engineering practices. The main application areas I am interested in is modelling the deformation of the breast, in order to predict the position of a tumour or region of interest in images taken using different imaging modalities, modelling the mechanical deformation of the heart and coupling this with (numerically efficient) models of the electro-physiology, and cancer modelling.
